Start with the sample
- Confirm whether the sample was taken before or after existing treatment.
- Record the date, sampling point, and whether the well or plumbing had recently been serviced or disinfected.
- Use a certified laboratory for health-related decisions.
Keep the units
Do not copy only the number. Keep mg/L, µg/L, pH units, hardness as CaCO₃, and any laboratory reporting limit. A thousand-fold unit mistake can completely change the interpretation.
Useful treatment inputs
Depending on the problem, a professional may need iron, manganese, hardness, pH, alkalinity, turbidity, sulfate, total dissolved solids, nitrate, arsenic, coliform bacteria, and other locally relevant contaminants—plus the well pump flow rate and household peak demand.
Do not use this future tool as a safety clearance. A normal result for one analyte says nothing about contaminants that were not tested. Follow your laboratory, local health department, and applicable agency guidance.
