Before you enter results
- Confirm whether the sample was taken before or after any existing treatment — untreated (“raw”) water tells you what your well is producing.
- Use a result from a certified laboratory, especially for anything health-related.
- Copy numbers exactly as reported, including the unit. A misread unit (µg/L vs mg/L, or nitrate reported as N vs as NO₃) can completely change what a result means — this tool asks for units on the fields where that mix-up is most common.
Alkalinity, turbidity, well pump flow rate, and household peak demand are worth logging too — a treatment professional needs them to size equipment correctly — but none has a single pass/fail number that applies the same way to every private well, so they’re left out of the scoring above.
This tool doesn’t replace a certified lab or professional evaluation. It compares numbers you typed against published reference values — it can’t catch a transcription error, confirm your sample was collected correctly, or account for interactions between contaminants.
